We Sold The Fullblood Salers Program
As many of our customers know, we sold our fullblood registered Salers program to Camas Prairie Salers in Reubens, Idaho in the fall of 2016. Our fullblood program was unique and rare in the United States and we are very pleased that Luke Lowe plans to continue it. We have received inquiries about the fullbloods so we will leave this notice up for a while longer. Nearly 30 years of hard work and planning have gone into that program and it feels really strange not to have the Salers cattle here anymore. They were the love of our lives for sure. Salers cattle will always be tops in our book. If you would like to contact Luke Lowe and need a number, feel free to contact us. He has some nice fullblood calves on the ground.
Where Do We Go From Here?
We will be continuing to build and improve our Black Angus Program. Improving on what we have is always our goal. Our Angus program is 20 years old but we have been in the registered business for 50 years and we know herd improvement is never finished. It goes on indefinitely as new genetics and industry changes continue to affect all of us. With our many repeat buyers, we are convinced that we are on the right track and our cattle will satisfy the needs of most cattlemen here in the West.
2018 Bull Offering
Our bulls for sale this year can be found at Luke Lowe's in Reubens, ID. We sold all the bulls, Salers and Angus alike, to Luke. Many of the Salers are going to the ISA sale in Caldwell on March 27. He still has a few (and one of the best) Angus bulls for sale off the ranch. Give him a call at (208) 924-5106.
Industry News
The American Angus Association has been on the cutting edge of all the developments in the cattle industry and that benefits not only the registered breeders like us but also the commercial breeders. Docility scores are fairly new and important to everyone in the business. The other thing that has become important with Angus cattle is the testing for genetic problems and the policy that the association has made. It's good to know we can offer our customers cattle that we know are as problem free as much as any bovine can be
